A Brief Report on 2011 Van Earthquake
|
|
|
On October 23, 2011, Sunday, an earthquake with 7.2 Mw (KOERI) hit the area between Van and Erciş at 13:41 and caused destruction mainly in the town of Erciş as well as other neighboring towns and the city center of Van. According to figures from AFAD, 604 lives have been lost, and over 2000 people were injured.

Professor Dr Durmuş Ali DEMİR who has been working in the experiments in CERN since 2005 said in an interview to the Hürriyet on December 25, 2011 about his project ‘Analyzing New Laws of Force in CMS Experiments’ and this project with new data in 2012 no signals had been detected yet about the existence of new forces and stated that his main objective was to find new particles by analyzing the data from CSM Experiments.

Ericsson and Avea at Technopark

|
Ericsson,one of the leaders of mobile Technologies, has announced its decision to set up a regional test center in collaboration with Avea within the İzmir Technology Development Zone on IZTECH Campus. The center is supposed to start functioning in January 2012 and will be working to enhance the quality of Avea products. Ericsson Avea Test Center, the first example of its kind, is planning to employ 100 engineers in a year.
